4D Textile Studies
Rigid X Flexible
How can a process built layer by layer for solidity produce a surface designed to move?
Printed Textile Studies explores how 3D printing can move beyond the production of rigid objects. By printing patterns directly onto stretched fabric, the work tests how line, spacing, thickness, and geometry can create surfaces that bend, expand, and contract. The resulting pieces sit between object and textile, structure and movement, digital precision and material unpredictability.
The project started by exploring a printed fabric-like samples using 95A TPU to print different patterns. The parameters included the layer thickness, number of layers, pattern density, and materials.
The outputs varied in elasticity, strength, and visual Appearance
Then different patterns, print thicknesses, and materials were explored and resulted in different behavior.
