The Mushroom Table

Sound X Digital X Physical

We can’t see the voices we hear. What if we could see the voices we can’t hear?

The Mushroom Table translates signals from a living organism into a physical object. Electrical activity becomes sound; sound deforms a digital surface at multiple moments; multiple moments are combined, and the resulting form is sliced, laser-cut, and assembled as a table. The work asks what happens when an imperceptible non-human signal is given material presence, moving between living information, computation, and matter.

The project considers the digital not as a separate or disembodied realm, but as an intermediary condition. It asks how computation might register, translate, and materialize forms of life that are present but not immediately visible.
